ArtiSana Gallery Café closes doors permanently

Popular Harare spot ArtiSana Gallery Café has announced that it is closing its doors permanently.

Situated inside the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Harare, the spot said it was forced to do so as it became a casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic:

We are sad to announce the permanent closure of ArtiSana Gallery Café at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. The uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 has created new challenges for us and structural limitations at our location make it impossible for us to continue throughout these difficult times. We want to thank our incredibly loyal customers, our committed staff and the vibrant artists that made ArtiSana such an enjoyable place to spend time at. We wish you all the best and stay tuned: the end of something is the beginning of something new.

It is sad really because it had become a popular spot for young artists to meet and chat as well as a place where creatives would sit and do some work.

ArtiSana Gallery Café had also started developing a live stage for very select music.

We wish Farai Mubi Schmidt the best and we will be looking out for the next project.
