Andre Braugher, star of ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and ‘Homicide,’ dies at age 61

Andre Braugher, star of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Homicide, has died at the age of 61.

He is said to have died after a short illness, according to his publicist.

Braugher played Captain Holt on Brooklyn Nine Nine for eight seasons, for which he received multiple Emmy nominations.

His breakout role was in the 1989 film Glory.

He would also go on to play Detective Frank Pembleton in 1998’s Homicide: Life On The Street, for which he earned an Emmy.

Braugher earned a second Emmy in 2006 for the FX miniseries Thief, getting 11 nominations overall.

The in-demand actor’s performances garnered him more recognition throughout an illustrious career.
