ALBUM REVIEW: Adiona – Just As I am (A Devotional Album)

Adiona produces a strong album in her spiritual journey, Just As I Am (A Devotional Album).

It is an album pregnant with emotion, depth and personal declarations, captured through perfect audio aesthetics, all in a moment.

It is an offering, crafted not beyond expression as she seeks to find her soul in amongst the weariness of the world. Adiona seeks strength in her spirituality. She bares her soul and says

Handizotyi kukundwa kana uripedyo (I will not fear losing if you are close)

The aesthetics also make use of jazz, classic registry to produce a song that not only sits in golden ages but is that forever music that you can imagine sitting and watching in a dimly lit club or at praise and worship.

That most of her expression is in Shona also lends strongly to its authenticity. Not to suggest the effect would have been in English. Adiona shows her dexterity in Jesus is Mine, where she calls on the skills of So Profound for a powerful piece.

A recommend.

Powerful keys own this album and only power voices dare drive them. Adiona has that voice.
