Another Politician Seeks Divorce From Wife

ZANU-PF National Chairman Simon Khaya Moyo is seeking divorce from his wife of 32 years.

Khaya Moyo is seeking divorce from Sibonokuhle Getrude Moyo (nee Ngwenya) who he has been married to since August 1980 on the grounds that marriage had irretrievably broken down.

The couple have two children from the union.

They acquired these declared properties

  •  Edenvale Farm, Mangwe District
  •  150 herd of cattle and various farm implements.
  •  Number 14406 Inkakha Circle, Selbourne Park, Bulawayo
  •  Number 26 Rolf Avenue Chisipite, Harare
  •  Toyota Hilux in the custody of Mrs Moyo
  •  Various household furniture at Number 14406 Inkakha Circle Selbourne Bulawayo.

Khaya Moyo says all he wants is the Chisipite house and proposes that the Bulawayo house be given to Langa. He also says that because he is giving up all the properties and he should not be expected to pay maintenance.

Mrs Khaya Moyo has not responded.

This divorce comes hot on heels of that of Local Government, Urban and Rural Development Minister Dr Ignatius Chombo. Chombo’s divorce was more protracted and caught the public eye because of the property at stake. In the end the settlement didn’t fulfill expectations but was still sizeable.

Divorce rates are increasing in Zimbabwe but the bigwigs have generally remained immune to them.
