Celebrated Maths and Science teacher William Smith has died.
Williams, who wsa 85, passed away after a short battle with cancer.
He was surrounded by his family in Perth, Australia.
Williams guided countless of young high school maths with his TV lessons, leaves behind a legacy cherished by many South Africans. His lessons on The Learning Channel were available for Zimbabweans as well.
ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said, ” We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of William Smith, a celebrated South African Science and Mathematics teacher whose impact on education has been felt across generations.
“His dedication to making complex subjects accessible and engaging to countless students has left an indelible mark on the fabric of our educational system. William’s legacy is not just in the knowledge he imparted but in the passion for learning he inspired in so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all those whose lives were enriched by his wisdom and generosity.”
