About That Zimbabwe, China TV Programmes Exchange MoU

SO ZBC and CCTV, the TV channels for Zimbabwe and China respectively have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to exchange programmes.

Well, exchange is not quite the word because the agreement seems to favour the Chinese more than it does local content. Under the treaty ZBC will air Chinese news programmes on our local channel.

In essence we will be importing  Chinese way of thinking and they will not be doing likewise. We know that ZBC is desperate for content but it means nothing if time that could be allocated to local programme makers is given to some other country.

Not that the ZBC cares. Seems as if in as far as arts development in this country, ZBC is not towing the line.
