“No issues between us and SRC” – Zimbabwe Cricket dismisses Social Media claims

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has moved to dispel rumours circulating on X, a social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

The rumours alleged a “standoff” between ZC and the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) concerning the recent 13th African Games in Ghana.

ZC says it refutes these claims entirely, labelling them “disinformation” and urging the public to disregard them. The statement highlights the “cordial relations” between ZC and the SRC, emphasising cooperation and mutual respect.

“For the record,” ZC clarifies, “our Golden Girls, the history-making Zimbabwe Senior Women’s National Cricket Team, just returned from a fantastic experience at the 13th African Games in Ghana. Their gold medal is a testament to this, and their success was achieved with the very support of the SRC.”

The press release acknowledges the SRC’s longstanding assistance in hosting international cricket events and facilitating tours for the Zimbabwean team.

ZC urges the individual behind the false X post and others to refrain from spreading such falsehoods, even if motivated by a desire for online attention. They reiterate their commitment to working alongside the SRC to promote cricket’s growth within Zimbabwe and beyond its borders.
