Mountaineers clinch Logan Cup title

The Mega Market Mountaineers have been crowned new champions of the Logan Cup after beating Eagles by an innings and 123 runs inside three days at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Mountaineers first dismissed Eagles for 302, with the latter’s deficit still 3289 and then enforced the follow-on.

Tendai Chatara (4-48), Salman Mirza (3-63) and Victor Nyauchi (2-58) then dismissed Eagles for 206.

Romario Roach finished with an unbeaten 50, his maiden half-century, while captain Chamu Chibhabha contributed with 43.

But it was not and never enough, meaning Stuart Matsikenyeri wins his first title with Mountaineers, against a side he last picked up the trophy with when he was coach of a domestic provincial side.
