Ireland Women 110-0 (13.1/21 ov) (Gaby Lewis 65, Amy Hunter 36 ; Ashley Ndiraya 0-4, Michelle Mavunga 0-5)
Ireland Women won by 10 wickets (DLS method – Match reduced to 21.0 overs, target 110 runs)
Ireland Women were devastating in their 10-wicket hammering of Zimbabwe Women in a rain-affected first one-day international at Harare Sports Club.
Rain delayed the start of the match and it was reduced firstly to 44 overs. After any other stoppage, it was 42. Following the innings break, it was further reduced to 21.
When things went under way, Ireland won the toss and elected to field.
Zimbabwe struggled up-top, losing captain Mary-Anne Musonda early. Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and Chiedza Dhururu had a nor rebuild before the latter departed for 16. The former made 22 before she left.
On the other end, Ashley Ndiray fell short of her maiden half century making 47.
Precious Marange’s 29 helped bring some respectability to the score as Zimbabwe were bowled out for 170.
Ireland were masterful in their chase, needing just 13.5 overs to chase down the target, losing no wickets in the process.
The second match is at the same venue on Saturday.
