Rusere makes umpiring history in SA Boxing Day Test

Langton Rusere

Zimbabwe’s Langton Rusere has picked up a couple of firsts after he was appointed on-field umpire for the current Boxing Day Test between South Africa and India.

Rusere is already the first black Zimbabwean and African to stand in a Test.

Now he has the same record for standing as a neutral umpire in a Test, and it does not come bigger than one in which India are involved.

This is Rusere’s seventh Test, but his previous six have been for matches involving in Zimbabwe, back in his own country.
