Zimbabwe Women won by 115 runs

Zimbabwe Women continued their dominance on the African circuit after exacting a 115-run win over Botswana Women in an ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifier Africa match on Monday.

Zimbabwe Women won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring a healthy 162 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.

Modester Mupachikwa carried the bat and scored an unbeaten 47 off 44 balls, with five fours to her name.

She had partnerships with fellow opener and captain Mary-Anne Musonda (35) and the prodigious Kelis Ndhlovu (40). Both made 31 and 28 respectively.

Goabilwe Matome had the wherewithal and was chief among the wickets for Botswana, dismissing Musonda, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano and Ashley Ndiraya.

In response, Zimbabwe were ruthless. Nomvelo Sibanda may have been wicketless for her two overs but both were maidens. Ashley Ndiraya had a wicket-maiden for her only over.

What would have annoyed Gary Brent was that extras column which registered 14 runs, To put into context, Shameelah Mosweu top-scored with 15, and noone else made double figures.

Zimbabwe and Tanzania are through to the semis. They meet on Wednesday to decide who will top the table.

Namibia and Uganda are likely to make it from the other group.

The two teams who make it to the final will make it for the Global Qualifier to decide who will play at the tournament proper.
