For Zimbabwe bowler Anesu Mushangwe has become the first person from her country to win Australian Women’s Big Bash League after she helped her Adelaide Strikers side to a three-run victory over Brisbane Heat on Saturday.

The Strikers held off a challenge by the Heat to claim the title by a small margin, in what was a tightly contested match.

Mushangwe did not bat and was wicketless for her three overs, conceding 21 runs.

She played for Zimbabwe in T20Is only between 2019 and 2022 and is the second-highest wicket-taker for the Lady Chevrons with 33 to her name. She shares that position with Precioys Marange.

Mushangwe left Zimbabwe to pursue a career in Australia.

UPDATE: Anesu Mushangwe played in the 2022 season when the Strikers won it, but did not feature in the final. So this is her second title
