SA police say they have suspects, weapon in AKA, Tibz murder case

South African police say they have identified the suspects who shot and killed rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his friend, prominent chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

KwaZulu Natal police also added that they are in possession of the murder weapon as well as the getaway vehicle used in the February slaying of the pair at a Flordia restaurant in Durban.

Speaking eNCA KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said all calls in the area when the murder happened were analysed and pinpointed to who was involved.

Data from 25 phones has far been downloaded.

A crack team of seasoned investigators also pored through hours of the extensive CCTV footage in the area which they used to link potential suspects and the phones they were using to communicate with each other.

Mkhwanazi said the information gathered was so extensive that more technical resources have been supplied for the case.

On when the case would make it to court, he said, ““Well, we can go tomorrow. But do we want to go to court tomorrow with a half baked case.”

While they have identified the shooters, cops want to provide everyone in the conspiracy when the case does get to the dock.

“So that we can say here is the shooter, here is the organiser and here is the person who ordered the hit and we have all of them,” Mkhwanazi said.
