NPL: Takashinga 2 pick up second win

Takashinga 2 won by 6 wickets (DLS method – Match reduced to 27 overs, Target 151 runs)

Takashinga 2 pulled off a second win in as many matches, hunting down Scorpions Cricket Club, to win by six wickets, in a National Premier League (NPL) at Masvingo Sports Club on Thursday.

Scorpions opted to bat first and put on 201 for the loss of nine wickets. Jayden Schadendorf was the standout player, with 72 runs.

The most individual wickets for Takashinga 2 came from the unfamiliar spin of Prince Masvaure who accounted for Blessed Mutize (37), Gabrieil Jaya (2) and Tawananyasha Kasondo.

Masvaure would be critical for his side’s response, putting on 75 for the fifth wicket with Alvin Charadza. They ended unbeaten on 35 runs each.

Uprising Cricket Club 192 all out in 30.1 overs (Craig Ervine 42, Tariro Makauyo 42, Ryan Kamwemba 39; Victor Chirwa 5-34, Nickel Kombora 3-27)

Kadoma Cricket Club 180 all out in 35 overs (Takudzwanaishe Kaitano 79, Nyasha Mayavo 23; Alex Falao 3-53, Ryan Burl 2-27, Dylan Hondo 2-43)

Uprising Cricket Club won by 12 runs

Uprising Cricket Club had national team duo Craig Ervine and Ryan Burl to call upon as they beat Kadoma Cricket Club by 12 runs at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Ervine opened with Tariro Makauyo and they put on 72 for the first wicket. When Makauyo fell, they were going at 10 per over and it looked is if a monster score was on the cards.

Even n when Ervine fell next, the first of Victor Chirwa’s five victims, Uprising still looked in a good position.

A late collapse however meant they fell short of 200.

Bar a 51-run partnership for the third wicket, Kadoma lost wickets at regular intervals and fell short or of their target.
