The impasse between the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) and the suspended Zifa executive seems to be coming and end, and could see a resolution as a early as Monday.
A source close the matter says SRC have agreed to reinstate the suspended Felton Kamambo board, who will then resign to allow for a Normalisation Committee to be set up.
Those reinstatement letters have already been delivered.
This comes after the world governing body, Fifa’s latest meetings with both sides.
Fifa told SRC to reinstate Kamambo, after which Zimbabwe can be included in the upcoming Fifa World Cup Draw.
SRC and Kamambo would then reach a resolution on what would happen next.
As it stands, Kamambo and co do not seem keen to carry on in their offices, but are understood to be seeking some sort of deal. One of the sticking points was the court case currently under way, in which Kamambo is one of those accused of corruption.
Both sides are now looking for an off-ramp which does not leave either looking bad.
Kamambo wants it to be known that he was reinstated and his resignation is from benevolence. His reinstatement is not conditional under Fifa eyes.
For SRC, they do not want to have seen to have bent to the will of Fifa and appear to have wasted close to two years away from the game and having achieved nothing, forced to a position they had resisted for long.
