11 candidates have reportedly been officially cleared as candidates for the position of President of Zimbabwe.
Here we go:
- Emmerson Mnangagwa – Zanu-Pf
- Nelson Chamisa – CCC
- Douglas Mwonzora – MDC-T
- Trust Chikohora – ZPCD
- Lovemore Madhuku – NCA
- Blessing Kasiyamhuru ZIPP
- Saviour Kasukuwere – Independent
- Joseph Makamba Busha FZC
- Wilson Harry Peters – DOP
- Wilbert Mubaiwa – NPC
- Henry Muzorewa – UANC
Most notably, there are no female candidates,
Candidates such Linda Masarira and Elizabeth Valerio seem to have been left out.
And the sudden Robert Chapman.
The list was given by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) according to the state-affiliated ZTN Prime.
10 candidates were rejected for failing to pay the US$20,000 fee or not having enough nominations from registered voters.
Zimbabwe elections are slated for 23 August 2023. A President, House of Assembly Members and Councilors will be elected. Councilors and Mayors will from there be drawn.
