MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW: Maskiri ft Tererai – Masendeke

First of all, can we just take a moment to dance around and celebrate how excited we are that Tererai is out here doing music.

We had missed that voice ever so terribly.

Masendeke is a collaboration with long-time co-conspirator Maskiri. And it has visuals to boot.

And yes, the Masendeke is in reference to former escaped convict by the same name, first name Edgar. If you don’t know it, the TLDR is that he and Steven Chidhumo escaped from the Chikurubi Maximum Prison in 1995. He was incarcerated on murder, rape and armed robbery, and they were on the run for 29 days, It was a thing. He was executed.

Back to the song, it is shot in the kind of area where this convict would have run to. That is maizefields with loads of space and places to hide.

And the song? It is about two lovers running off.

The video does not show what they are running from which is a bit of let-down.

Our rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 6.
