Zim police arrest 248 in one day as part of illicit drugs ‘operation’

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (Zrp) has been busy as part of its No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances campaign.

The campaign started recently and has seen many arrested for possession of illegal drugs.

And on 10 February 2023, the sting saw an eye-popping 248 people arrested countrywide.

And the day before, the Zrp said, “Police in Mbare, Harare arrested thirteen suspects for being found in possession of skin lightening and other various substances without licences while others were smoking dagga. Police seized a load of the recovered drugs.”

In total, the cumulative arrests now sit at 1,903.

Drug abuse has been rampant in Zimbabwe. Until this ‘operation’ started, the authorities either turned a blind eye to it, or paid lip service to attending to the scourge.
