HISTORY MAKER! Raza nominated for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year 2022 award

Zimbabwe all-rounder has been rewarded for mind-numbingly brilliant year, by being nominated for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Player of the Year put up memorable performances in 2022.

Raza was named along with England captain Ben Stokes, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and New Zealand’s leader Tim Southee.

He adds this nomination to that of ICC Men’s T20I Player of the Year and ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year nominations.

Raza will be proud of his performances, having scored 1380 runs and 33 wickets in 39 matches across ODI and T20I formats. Zimbabwe did not play any Test cricket this year.

Raza was a force to reckon with in both white-ball formats, scoring more than 600 runs in both T20Is and ODIs. The star all-rounder enjoyed his most prolific year with both bat and ball since making his debut in 2013. 

He was the Player of the Tournament at T20 World Cup Qualifier B in July and carried his form into the marquee event, winning the Player of the Match thrice, including Zimbabwe’s epic win over Pakistan.

Raza is the first Zimbabwean to be nominated for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the ICC Player of the Year.
