Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza has been nominated in the final shortlist of the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year Awards.
Raza took 645 runs and eight wickets in 15 matches in a year which saw Zimbabwe improve their stock on the international scene.
He amassed his runs at an average of 49.61 and strike rate of 87.16, making two fifties to complement the three centuries. All of his runs came against top sides that have been brilliant in the white-ball game in 2022.
The 36-year-old scored three centuries, all of which came while chasing, with two resulting in victories and another almost taking Zimbabwe across the line against India.
He is up against Australia’s Adam Zampa (30 wickets in 12 matches), Shai Hope of the West Indies (709 runs in 21 matches) and last year’s receipient, Pakistan captain Babar Azam (679 runs in nine matches).
Voting
Voting in the ICC Awards 2022 will then commence in early January 2023, where a wider selection of global media representatives, the ICC Voting Academy, will submit their selections alongside global cricket fans, who will once again be encouraged to vote at icc-cricket.com for their winners.
Results of the ICC Voting Academy selections and the fans’ vote will be combined to determine the winner in each of these nine categories.
