A Los Angeles jury has found Tory Lanez, guilty of shooting a fellow artist, Megan Thee Stallion, in both of her feet following an argument about their romantic entanglements and careers in 2020.
Lanez, better known as Daystar Petersen, was found guilty on all three charges.
Megan Pete, as Megan Thee Stallion is known by the government, said the decision was right based on the prosecution.
“You showed incredible courage and vulnerability with your testimony despite repeated and grotesque attacks that you did not deserve,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón in a statement wrote in a statement. “You faced unjust and despicable scrutiny that no woman should ever face and you have been an inspiration to others across LA County and the nation.”
Tory Lanez refused to testify in the trial and now waits for sentencing on 27 January 2023. Indications had not been given on whether he would apply.
Megan testified that she was shot on 12 July 2020 after an altercation.
Tory Lanez’s attorney insisted that his client was not the shooter.
