Some sad news coming out of South Africa, as beloved Metro FM newsreader Pearl Shongwe has died, it has been confirmed..

The 35-year old was found dead by neighbours who alerted the police. She was found lying dead alone in her home on her bed face down.

No injuries were found on her.

The SABC confirmed the news, saying, “The SABC has learned through the family of Pearl Shongwe that she has sadly passed away. The SABC extends its heartfelt condolences to the Shongwe Family”.

Outpouring of grief continued with the political party Economic Freedom Fighters, saying, “The EFF sends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Metro FM News Reader Pearl Shongwe. When death visits, it is never pleasant for anyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shongwe family. May they be comforted and may her soul rest in peace.”
