Kenya’s Supreme Court has dismissed the challenge by Raila Odinga after Vice President William Ruto won the election in August 2022.
Chief Justice Martha Koome while giving the apex court’s ruling on the Presidential election Petition filed by Odinga said some of the petitions ‘turned out to be no more than hot air and we were taken on a wild goose chase that yielded nothing of probative value.’
It said the petitions were without merit, after Odinga challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) results.
The court upheld Ruto’s win meaning he will be be sworn in as the fifth president of Kenya by Monday next week.
“This is a unanimous decision of the court; the Presidential Petition is dismissed,” said Koome.
