Washington Sundar ruled out of Zimbabwe ODIs

As we suspected last week, Indian off-spinner Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the One-Day International tour of Zimbabwe due to injury.

Sundar’s inclusion became doubtful after he injured his shoulder while playing for Lancashire County Cricket Club on 10 August 2022.

He was originally meant to take part in the Royal London Cup on 14 August 2022, before making his way to Harare. Now it is said, through PTI, he will go through a period of rehabilitation.

It comes another unlucky blow for Sundar, whose spate of injuries this year has seen him miss out on India tours.

KL Rahul leads a side in Harare for the three-match series, which forms as part of ODI Super League, a pathway to direct qualification for the 50-over World Cup next year.

VVS Laxman is acting as head coach, in the absence of Rahul Dravid, who is resting ahead of the Asia Cup.

All three matches are at Harare Sports Club on 18, 20 and 22 August 2022.
