Marshall Munetsi extends contract

Zimbabwean international midfielder Marshall Muntesi has extended his contract at Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.

The new contract sees the former Orlando Pirates player continue his stay at the French side for an extra two years.

Munetsi’s current deal runs until 2024. Now the 26 year-old will see his stay at the club run until 2026.

Stade de Reims confirmed the extension, saying,”A few weeks away from celebrating his 26th birthday, Marshall Munetsi, midfielder with a Red and White heart since the summer of 2019, is extending his adventure for two more years. He will be with Stade de Reims until 2026!”

“The recruitment of Marshall Munetsi is part of a logic of the future”  declared Mathieu Lacour, director general of the SDR, upon his arrival. With 21 appearances on the clock during his first season in Champagne, Marshall Munetsi manages to seduce an entire stadium.

Capable of occupying all midfield positions, but also the position of central defender, Marshall Munetsi has an atypical profile: a versatile and enduring player on whom Oscar Garcia has been able to count on 23 times this season.

During the 2021/22 financial year, after nine matches, he was the one who had swallowed the most kilometers in Ligue 1 Uber Eats. The Zimbabwe international had covered 103.9km, an average of 11.5km per game.

He has scored five goals this season.
