Women’s T20 Cup Day 4: Mountaineers bounce back with victory over Rhinos

Mountaineers Women bounced back from a match day four disappointment to pick up a 24-run victory over Rhinos Women in a Women’s T20 Cup match at Harare Sports Club on Monday.

Having been put in, Mountaineers amassed 126 for the loss of five wickets, thanks muchly to a 56 from Nyasha Gwanzura.

Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano clocked 22, while Loryn Phiiri 15. Diveniah Ndhlalambi bowled the former while Dana Ndiraya had the latter caught and bowled.

Mary-Anne Musonda grabbed two wickets for 17 while Jospephine Nkomo took the other.

Musonda and Kelly Ndiraya then put on a very positive 55-run partnership for the opening partnership. The latter was then caught and bowled by Ndiraya for 21, after which there were no real scores and partnerships to talk about. Musonda departed for 34, a victim to Gwanzura.

Rhinos were then bowled out for 102 with the last ball of the match. With Hillary Marodza falling the ball before that, it means Mountaineers are on a team hat-trick going into the next match.

Mountaineers are level on points with Alliance Health Eagles but have an inferior net run rate.
