Ryan Burls 32-ball 57 helped Rhinos chase down Tuskers to pick a six-wicket victory on the opening day of the Men’s Domestic T20 at Old Hararians on Thursday.
His swashbuckling effort included six maximums and a four as Rhinos reached 161 for the loss of four wickets with 15 balls to spare.
Burl built on earlier efforst by Prince Masvaure who made 48 off 42 and former captain Tarisai Musakanda who was 26 off 16.
The star of the show was Burl who blasted four sixes in the 17th over by Ainsley Ndlovu.
It took three legal deliveries in the next over, the final two going over the fence of Luke Jongwe to clinch victory.
Earlier, the youthful pair of Milton Shumba and Clive Madande both picked up half-centuries. Shumba ended up unbeaten with 67 while Madande posted 55 for a 114-run fourth wicket partnership.
Action continues on Friday with Eagles taking on Tuskers at Old Hararians Sports Club, while Rocks open their season against Rhinos at Harare Sports Club. Mountaineers have a bye.
Both matches start at 13.30hrs and admission is free.
