Women’s T20 Cup: Kellies Ndlovu blitz, Mitchell Mavunga five-for condemn Tuskers Women

Kellies Ndlovu blasted an unbeaten 91 off just 42 balls as she helped lead her Alliance Health Eagles Women side to a 94-run victory against Tuskers Women in an opening day Women’s T20 Cup match at Harare Sports Club on Friday,

Tuskers won the toss and chose to field first.

They got rid of the dangerous Eagles captain for 12. Loreen Tshuma had her caught by Lindokuhle Mabhero.

Ndlovu joined Beloved Biza and the pair put on 95 for the second wicket before the latter was run out by Nomatter Mutasa.

Ndlovu carried on and with the help of Precious Marange, who was bowled out with the last ball of the match by Phillanthropic Shango, got Eagles to huge 170 for the loss of three wckets.

Tshuma was one 28 and Shango one for 24.

Tuskers started slow and lost two wickets in two balls when Loreen Tshuma was bowled for one and Sibonginkosi Ncube was out next ball, also bowled by Esther Mbofana.

At that point, Tuskers were 11 for the loss of two wickets.

Marange then removed Chiedza Dhururu for 12, bowled.

After that, it was the Mitchell Mavunga show and but for the resistance of captain Tasmeen Granger who made 34, Tuskers Women never really got going.

They made 76 for the loss of eight wickets.

Mavunga ended on five for 12, Mbofana two for 22 and Marange one for 12.

Action continues on Friday, with Eagles Women taking on Rhinos at Harare Sports Club while Tuskers Women and Mountaineers women lock horns at Old Hararians.
