The Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) has reacted strongly to the recent suspension of its Chief Executive and board by members of the suspended, beleaguered Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) board.
In statement, the PSL said, “The Premier Soccer League condemns this shocking behaviour that is tantamount to vindictive and intimidatory tactics by the three suspended Executive Committee members.”
It also pointed that PSL Chairman, part of the suspended Zifa board had not been called to the meeting to get suspend the PSL officials.
“We would like to categorically state that an attempt to divide the Premier Soccer League family will not be tolerated,” the PSL added
The PSL says the suspensions have no force or effect as Zifa remained suspended by the Sport and Recreation Commission.
“The PSL Governors unanimously agreed to petition the revocation of the mandate to Executive Committee Members as provided in the ZIFA Statutes after observing a number of irregularities, these being poor governance, lack of transparency and failing to respect the Judicial bodies’ decisions among a plethora of other issues,” PSL further said.
The Zifa board suspended leaders of Caps United FC, Dynamos FC, Highlanders FC and Manica Diamonds FC together with the PSL Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kennedy Ndebele.
Since then suspended Zifa president Felton Kamambo has asked for the world governing body, Fifa, to suspend Zimbabwe.
