Suspended Zifa board issues its own suspensions

Zifa President Felton Kamambo PIC: Zifa website

The suspended Felton Kamambo-led Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) board has decided to doll out its own bunch of sanctions.

Suspended are Premier Soccer League (PSL) boss Kenny Ndebele, Zimbabwe national teams General Manager Wellington Mpandare, Zifa Spokesperson Xolisani Gwesela, Dynamos official Isaiah Mupfurutsa and Caps-United part-owner Nhamo Thuthisani.

Various charges have been levied against them but the majority of them are concerning them meeting with the Sport and Recreation Commission (SRC) without the board’s permission and being involved in an attempt to remove the board via an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

SRC suspended the Zifa board, an action which the world governing board Fifa says must be reversed. A deadline for reinstatement has since come and gone.

The attempted EGM was blocked by Fifa.
