Bulawayo introduces 48-hour water rationing because of power outages [schedule inside]

The City of Bulawayo says it is forced to introduce 48-hour water rationing in suburbs because of crippling power outages.

The power outages are in Nceba, Fernhill and Criterion. There are power challenges at Nyamandlovu Rochester as well.

The city says that the move is meant to ‘help conserve water and assists in balancing the City water reservoirs.’

Bulawayo as had a persistent water problem and successive administrations have come in and pledged to end water woes. While the current crippling rationing is out of the council’s control as it does not control the power distribution, this will be met derision and have proverbial demerit points meted against the authorities.
