Tanunurwa Makoni scored his maiden century as Southern Rocks and Tuskers played out a draw in a Logan Cup match at Takashinga Sports Club on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Tuskers opener’s 129 helped his side avoid a defeat while chasing an unlikely 352 to win.
Rocks added 26 to their overnight score of 251 and declared on 277 for the loss of eight wickets.
Travor Mutsamba (21) and Roya Kaia (15) were unbeaten.
Ainsley Ndlovu took four wickets for 53, Ernest Masuku three for 69 and Nkosana Mpofu one for 87.
Makoni and Mpofu had a huge opening partnership of 144 before the latter departed for 52 falling to Travor Mutsamba.
Craig Ervine joined Makoni put on 53 for the second wicket. In that time, the latter got to his landmark 100 off 153 balls. He was dismissed after tea on 129,bowled by Tendai Chisoro, as he kept trying to take the game to the opposition.
Captain Brian Chari made 17 and Ervine went for 33. Soon after the captains shook hands and the match was drawn.
