Zimbabwe Cricket has announced the structure of the men’s domestic season for 2021/22.
Here is what you need to know.
Who is playing?
Five provincial sides will take part. These are Southern Rocks, the newly-named Alliance Health Eagles, Tuskers, Rhinos and Mountaineers. There are also fixtures for Northern against Southern sides across some formats.
Which formats will the season have?
There will be the First Class Logan Cup, the Pro50 Championship and a T20 tournament.
When?
The season is scheduled to start on 15 October and will run until early April 2022.
Where will they be played?
While a significantly high number of matches will be played in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare, Kwekwe and Masvingo will see some action. This is especially so during the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Global Qualifier to be held in Harare next month. Domestic matches will continue during the tournament.
Will fans be allowed?
At this stage no fans will be allowed until the government of Zimbabwe advises otherwise. This is due to the prevailing Covid-19 lockdown conditions.
And broadcasting?
There will be livestreaming of some matches via the Zimbabwe Cricket YouTube page.
