Rowing: Zimbabwe’s Purcell-Gilpin wins repechage to advance to quarters

Zimbabwean rower Peter Purcell-Gilpin cruised to a comfortable win in the 2020 Olympics men’s singles sculls.

He made a time of 7:35.16 ahead of ALIREZA Husein of Saudi Arabia who goes with him to quarter finals. The Zimbabwean dominated the race from start to finish.

Purcell-Gilpin will now take part in quarter-final 2 on Sunday morning, targeting a semi-final spot.

His Quarterfinal is at 4:50am on Sunday and you can catch it on DStv’s SuperSport (Check channel listing for detail).

Purcell-Gilpin carried the Zimbabwe flag with swimmer Donata Katai, during the Tokyo Games opening ceremony, on Friday.
