Part of the cast of the Zimbabwean hit movie “Playing Warriors” are currently in America for the movie’s Première at the African Film Festival in New York City.
“Playing Warriors” a modern comedy by female writer and filmmaker Rumbi Katedza, is a universal story of women’s struggles to balance the expectations of their elders with their own desires.
Its success is largely attributable to its ability to engage critics, young and old audiences, through fresh dialogues and a cast of local celebrities.
We spoke with one of the stars of the movie Tendai Musoni before she left her England base and she confirmed she will be joining the other cast members in New York.
The film received great reviews when first screened in Zimbabwe in November 2011, as a promising example of the country’s incipient film industry.
We will keep you posted.
