South African president Cyril Ramaphosa will on Sunday evenig, address his country over the country’s raging Covid-19 infecton and death rate.
This comes in the wake of news of a new Delta variant identified in SA, prompting calls for stricter lockdown regulations.
Two weeks ago, South Africa moved to level three lockdown, with longer curfews and other restriction, as it battled the third wave.
Areas such as Gauteng have called even stricter lockdown measures to combat the spread of Covid-19. There have been suggestions of a staggered approach with some areas going into level five lockdown while others may get into adjust level four lockdown, with certain things allowed.
The address is expected at 20.00hrs.
