Football resumption gets go-ahead along with 8 sporting other codes

The Sport and Recreation Commission has given the go-ahead to football restarting.

The Chibuku Super Cup and preparations for the Cosafa Cup tournament have gotten the thumbs up from the government.

The tournament had been stopped after the government suddenly banned all sporting activities, in order to curb rising Covid-19 cases. 24 sporting codes had however been given a greenlight to resume but with limitations and need to get permission to perform.

Zimbabwe’s participation in the Coasfa Cup tournament had also been thrown into doubt.

Other sports that have been given the go-ahead for specific assignments are:

• Zimbabwe rugby
  • Sevens
  • Men’s 15s
  • Women’s 15s
• Zimbabwe cricket
  • Tour by Bangldesh
  • Under-19 quadrangular tour in SA
• Zimbabwe shooting
• National athletics
• Zimbabwe Aquatic Union
• Zimbabwe Golf Association
• Zimbabwe National Bass Association
• Zimbabwe Volleyball Association
