He saved my life – Mnangagwa eulogises Father Ribeiro

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has spoken on the death of prominent Roman Catholic Priest Father Emmanuel Ribeiro.

In a statement, Mnangagwa said:

Almost 50 years ago, Father Ribeiro saved my life. When I was sentenced to death in prison, this great man fought for me to live.

Father Ribeiro was assistant chaplain-general of Prisons at the time President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in prison, during the liberation struggle.

Father Ribeiro had been working on tracking the path of those whose lives had been cut short by the cruel penal system of the colonial settler regime.

He was 86 ,at the time of his of death.
