A Moment With… Carl Joshua Ncube

Carl Joshua Ncube is the BIGGEST Zimbabwean Stand up comedian in the WORLD. One of the new comics to come out of Zimbabwe, Carl is on the slowest world tour ever, he intends on performing in 37 cities around the world and has decided to take a breather in South Africa. Zimbabwe has never been this funny…err ok, maybe it has!

Carl was recently included the Night of A Thousand Laughs barnstorming standup comic show set for Nigeria later this year, becoming the first Zimbabwean to do so.

He is also an accomplished animator and director.

Which side of the bed do you sleep on?

I sleep all over the bed, I have developed a unique skill of sleeping on the edge of the bed the whole night and I don’t fall off. It’s a cool part of the bed coz of the cool air and also having grown up sharing a bed with my brother, cousins etc you had to learn to balance or else you would fall off.

Are you left-handed or right-handed?

Right handed, but it all depends on what I am doing, some things need old lefty to come into action…(you dirty minds! I meant like holding your cards with your left hand when playing crazy eight)

What is your favourite instrument?

The drums, I always love it at concerts when the different members of the band show off their skills, but no one looks cooler than the drummer when he does his solo.

What is the first song you fell in love with?

End of the Road – Boyz II Men

Best concert you have ever been to?

Don Williams funny enough, when he came to Zimbabwe in 1997

I am the biggest Zimbabwean Stand Up Comedian in the World who is on a world tour that’s meant to go to 37 cities around the world. 35 of those cities are in Zimbabwe….

How do you deal with groupies?

I wish I had groupies, I really wish I did. My female fans are just the coolest amazing beautiful chicks but definitely no groupies!

How excited were you when the first groupie hollered at you?

I imagine that if that happens I will be so chuffed, excited I will probably tweet it…aaah I don’t know hey, let me think about it and mail you a response next week?

Where is Zimbabwe comedy going?

Zimbabwean comedy in the last year has grown so much I can see comedy becoming the next new phenomenon in Zimbabwe. This year alone Zimbabwe will see more comedy than its ever seen before.

Where is your comedy going?

Around the world, into people’s homes, making people dream again, fall in love again, see the beauty in each other again

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered as the guy that put everything into everything he did!
