Marumani cracks back-to-back 50s as Rocks make it two on the bounce

Teenage prodigy Tadiwanashe Marumani cracked a consecutive half-century, in Southern Rocks’s convincing seven-wicket victory over Tuskers, in a Zimbabwe Domestic T20 cricket match at Harare Sports Club, on Monday

He followed up his debut effort of 60 with an unbeaten 63 off 42 balls in Rocks’s successful run chase with 19 balls to spare.

Rocks had won the toss and elected to bowl first. They restricted Tuskers to 14 for the loss of six wickets.

Veterans Brian Chari with 47 and Luke Jongwe with 41 not out were the highlights of the innings. The former’s total had four sixes and three fours. Jongwe had two of each.

Roy Kaia took three wickets, conceding 21 runs while Delan Hondo took two for 31 on his debut.

Brian Mudzinganyama and Cephas Zhuwao opened the batting for Rocks. The latter faced four balls and two of them went for a six and a four before Ernest Masuku had him caught brilliantly at point. Mudzinganyama was pensive and Masuku had him caught behind by keeper Clive Madande for 23 off 20 balls.

By that time, the Marumani show was well under way as he lit up the stadium with expansive shots.

Richmond Mutumbami made 23 while Roy Kaia was 21 not out.

Rocks made 143 for the loss three wickets.
