Zimbabwe’s cabinet has given permission for casinos to reopen in the country.
The announcement was made by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvanga after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Casinos will be allowed to resume operations under strict Covid-19 regulations and guidelines. Failure to adhere to them will result in licenses being revoked, the government has said.
The move comes as the Zimbabwe government continues to open up the economy after a crippling Covid-19 two-month lockdown at the turn of the year.
The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority will be especially excited as it will have more products to offer on the market. The news will be sweet for Victoria Falls, which has aggressively vaccinated its population in order to sell itself as a safe destination for tourists. It is home to some of Zimbabwe’s casinos.
Most of all, the workers will too be excited as they have been pretty much redundant for months on end.
