Tsvangirai Asks Britain To Lift Sanctions

Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai called for removal of economic and other forms of sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by Western countries for the inclusive Government to deliver.

Responding to a question in parliament seeking clarification on the objective of his recent visit to London, Tsvangirai said-

“I met the Prime Minister of the UK Mr Cameron specifically on issues of this nature (sanctions), that you cannot encourage reform by removing certain people and leaving certain people on the list because it is actually a discouraging move,”

The European Union last month removed 51 people including politicians and journalists, and 20 companies from the sanctions list while Australia indicated it would remove 82 individuals from the sanctions.

Thing are not exactly well in Europe and unless some unnatural act of God happens, things are going to get progressively worse for some European countries. The fact of the matter is sooner or later Britain will have to lift the sanctions on Zimbabwe so that the two countries can trade in order for Britain to revive its own economy.
