#NPL2020 ROUNDUP: Easterns beat Takashinga, Musakanda posts century and Muzarabani, Chatara shine

And the second day of the inaugural National Premier League has come and gone.

Easterns took on Takashinga.

Midwest jousted with Gladiators.

Queen went head to head with Patriots.

And Harare Kings headed to Kwekwe to play Amakhosi.

That last match did not take place because of rain. They did try to get it done but it was too dangerous to play.

Over to Harare Sports Club where Midwest took on a youthful Gladiators, beating them by 148 runs.

For Midwest, captain Tarisai Musakanda made 142, followed by Takudzwa Kaitano with 63 and Nyasha Mayavo as they got to 306/8.

Masiva Maruvatsanga took 4/49.

The youthful Wesley Madhevere top-scored with 59, followed by Tony Munyonga with 27 and Ashley Mafandauya with 26.

Trevor Chibvongoze returned 3/21, Manson Chikowero 2/13. Jabulisa Tshuma with 2/23 and Davis Murwendo’s 2/25 in among there.

Gladiators were all out for 158 in 33.1 overs.

Easterns produced and unexpected result when they won at the fancied Takashinga by 5 runs.

Donald Tiripano top-scored with 40 followed by Clive Chitumba with 37.

Blessing Muzarabani made a barnstorming return to club cricket in Zimbabwe with 5/28. Richard Ngarava took 3/24.

Easterns were all out for 168 in 43.3 overs.

And what Muzarabani could do, Tendai Chatara did as well. His 5/27 helped restrict Takashinga to 163 all out in 32.5 overs.

Roy Kaia provided the main resistance with 61 and Tino Mutombodzi with 24.

Tiripano took 2/22.

In a match affected by rain, Queens Sports Club beat Great Zimbabwe Patriots by  44 runs.

Luke Jongwe top-scored with 31 followed by Chamu Chibhabha with 29.

Nkosilathi Nungu took 4-34 and William Mashinge 2-25.

Queens made 126/9 from 24 overs.

Patriots in response were all out for 44.

Gabriel Junior Jaya and Richmnd Mutumbami both got 19.

On the bowling end, national test captain Sean Williams got 4-22 and Tanatswa Bechani got 3/2 from 3 overs.
