Documents required to go past roadblocks or checkpoints for various sectors announced

It has gone dystopian folks.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the requirements for going passed a roadblock under the latest Covid-19 lockdown announced recently by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

And these are not documents that will let you through. They are to be considered:

  • Health:
    • Uniform ID and health cards
    • Those in civilian attire, a letter from the Medical Superintendent or CEO stating dates and times of reporting and off duty. CEO contact details must be attached.
  • Companies/Organisations:
    • Letters from company CEO or General Manager stating dates and times of reporting and off duty, CEO contact details must be attached.
  • Ministries, Parastatals HQ and Provincial Levels
    • At national level, an exemption letter from Director and above stating dates and times of reporting and off duty,
    • At provincial level, an exemption letter from provincial heads stating dates and times of reporting and off reporting, Letter to indicate contact details of responsible person.
  • Commercial A2/A1 farmers:
    • An offer/lease agreement with exemption certificate from local Officer in Charge Station#
  • Communal farmers:
    • Supporting letter from headman/Village head stating the business to be done, the date and time and place with exemption letter from officer in charge station. Contact details for the headman/village head to be indicated.
  • Food retailers:
    • Certified copy of shop license and exemption letter from local officer in charge station
  • Sole traders:
    • Shop license accompanied by an exemption letter from local officer in charge station
  • Private security:
    • Uniform, company ID and letter from management stating dates and time of reporying duty. Letter to indicate contact details of CEO or responsible person.
  • Medical resupplies
    • Medical cards/prescriptions and contact details of doctor where possible
  • Attendance of funeral:
    • Concerned relatives to produce copy of burial order to police station
    • Officer in Charge, Officer Commanding District and Officer Commanding Province to issue exemption letters showing destination dates and movements of those who intend to bury relatives in their towns, rural areas etc

The public has been told to shop within 5km and to make prior arrangements for persons for those they need to give care.

Interesting final statement:

The observance of national lockdown measures will promote the effective maintenance of law and order by police other security services.
