Zimbabwe imposes curfew, tightens lockdown until further [full list of restrictive measures inside]

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced a raft of measures as he moves to tighten lockdown restrictions in Zimbabwe.

The measures announced effective 22 July 2020 are

  1. All non-working sections will be required to stay at home except for purposes of securing food, water and health services. Where travel is unavoidable, wear masks, mandatory screening, social distancing and hygiene.
  2. All business premises must operate from 8am to 3pm unless they are essential services.
  3. Dusk to dawn curfew from 6pm to 6am. to be enforced by security services
  4. Only registered SMEs will be allowed to operate and must comply with WHO parameters
  5. Food markets will remain open
  6. Inter-city transport remain banned
  7. Public gatherings for political, social and religious banned
  8. Desertion of quarantine
  9. Anyone who knowingly exposes or abating and engage undermine government measures will be punished.

So it is not quite total lockdown as most businesses will allowed to remain open.

Mnagagwa says he will return to ease restrictions when the situation subsides.
