Zimbabwe international striker Tino Kadewere showed he is up for it as he scored four first half goals for his news side Lyon in their friendly against Swiss Amateur side US Port Valais on Wednesday night.
12-0 was the final score. That did not matter but it was a great workout for Kadewere as he began his Lyon career in earnest.
Of his performance he told the club’s website:
I’m very happy with this first game. It’s good to start that way. We have to keep going.
And coach Rudi Garcia was impressed as well:
There is much satisfaction in the performance of Tino Kadewere and the return to action of Memphis and Jeff. They can be important assets. They did their utmost. They reassured us. There is no apprehension on their side. It’s good progress for them.
Lyon are in training as they prepare to take on Juventus in a Uefa Champions League second leg quarter final tie in a few weeks. They lead 1-0 from the first stage.
Kadewere is eligible to play in that tie after completing a move from Le Havre in Ligue 2 where he finished as the top goalscorer for the division.
