Zimbabwe Cricket players given individual training programmes under Covid-19 lockdown

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) national players have been given individual training programmes during the coronavirus lockdown.

The news was confirmed with ZC media manager Darlington Majonga on the phone with 3-mob.com.

He said the players were given tasks by both the head and fitness coach which they are to complete while in isolation. Coach Lalchand Rajput is in India where he had gone after the tour of Bangladesh but is said to be heavily involved in preparation for a return to action, undetermined at this point.

For Zimbabwe, this was a year in which they were going to see a lot of action after a sparse 2019 with an August tour of Australia the main highlight. They also have the small matter of an ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier. So far only the visit of Ireland which was set for early April has been affected as the whole world has gone into massive restriction on public events.

Zimbabwe has 28 confirmed Covid-19 cases as of 22 April 2020 with four deaths. None of the confirmed cases include national team players.
