#THURSPOETRY: Lisa The Poet – Mr Chameleon

#ThursPoetry returns this week with our friends from Gourd Of Consciousness.

Monalisa Tsuro also known as Lisa The Poet is a well known Spoken Word poet who started poetry at the age of 12 and had her first perfomance at the age of 16.
One of her best performances was at Lit Fest Harare 2018.
Lisa has also previously performed for Elysium Dance and theatre academy.
Besides poetry Lisa is also a Human Right Activist with an award winning project Silence With Impact a project that caters for the deaf community.

POEM
Title: Mr Chameleon

I see that you change your coat everywhere you go.
Yes they are all bright and beautiful, but which one is your favourite.
Maybe you need a psychologist,
or maybe your childhood tainted your name.
Why then not embrace the dark beautiful skin you have and not confuse the world.
If you hide your true self, who then is going to help you.
Oh!!! Mr Chameleon, look at your generation.
The same confusion follows them,
they change their coats like mad people.
Who are they, really?
They calculate their every step due to being a coward and they just blend everywhere even with the color of fire.
True identity comes from within, don’t camouflage those wounds, let them heal.
