Zimbabwean actress Chi Mhende is on the cast of Queen Sono and she appears in the trailer for the first-ever African Netfix Original series developed from inception Queen Sono.
The title character is played by Pearl Thusi. According to a description from Shadow & Act, Thusi’s plays “a highly trained top spy in a South African agency whose purpose is to better the lives of African citizens. While taking on her most dangerous mission yet, she must also face changing relationships in her personal life.”
Mhende, Loyiso Madinga and Rob Van Vuuren, play agents on Dr. Sid, director of the Special Operations Group’s team. Dr Sid is played by Sechaba Morojele.
Also add Khathu Ramabulana, Sechaba Morojele, and Enhle Mbali Maphumulo for the characters supported. Kagiso Lediga, a stand-up comedian, actor, and director is the creator. He is also the series ‘ executive producer.
In the trailer, Mhende’s character is at the beginning giving instructions to Sono. Later she is seen saying of Sono, “She’s crazy, but she gets things done”.
Mhende made waves in the South African TV scene for her role on Generations. She has also done a lot of stage work so shout out to her.
Queen Sono is out 28 February and we will be borrowing an account and password from someone to catch a peek.
