Sean Williams is down sick with a bug and we have a question or two

Zimbabwe captain Sean Williams was missing from all the afternoon action on day 2 of the second test against Sri Lanka.

The official position is that William’s has had a bug of suits and has been on some medication

Big blow.

This has seen Brendan Taylor play as ‘captain’ of sorts in the afternoon with Prince Masvaure helping out a bit.

One of the coaches we came across said while there was no vice captain, Taylor had to act in the afternoon.

Of course the reality is that when Zimbabwe appointed captains for all formats, there was no vice captains announced.

With PJ Moor not having been officially fired as vice captain, does that mean the team went into the test with no deputy in the captain?

Or did the Zimbabwe cricket board concede to the seniority of Taylor and allow him to he captain?

And does that mean the cold war between director of cricket Hamilton Masakadza and Taylor is over because players were happy to default to the latter for guidance?

Either way, this feels like progress…
